GROWING IN GOD’S FRAGRANT BEAUTY: Choosing a place of worship that will encourage your kid’s desire to walk with God. September 11th, 2015

For years, I have struggled with my walk with God. Despite attending church all of my life, I was never given the tools that would allow me to effectively apply the principles from the Bible to my daily life. I have now come to a better understanding of why that is the case. Although we attend Sunday School at a young age, once we reach young adulthood, we are transitioned over into a world that is far too advanced for our walk. There is no period of transition for young adults in the African-American church. They are sent into the “lion’s den” with no real training or teaching.

Young adults require training and teaching that will equip them with the tools needed in order to navigate through society. In today’s society, young people are faced with many obstacles and temptations. After much pondering and praying, I decided that I must do what was best for my kids and placed in an environment that would conducive to their learning of biblical principles. I have opted not to return to my childhood church but rather seek out a place that is geared towards equipping and training up God-feared young women and men. it wasn’t a hard decision for me to make. I have four souls to watch over with one on the way. It is my duty as a parent to make sure they are given the opportunity to establish a relationship with God and get to know Him for themselves. What you input into a child determines their output in life.

THINK IT, SPEAK IT, DO IT!!!!!  August 21st, 2015

Why it is so important to stay meditating on God and His Word.

Joshua 1:8 KJV

8 ” This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”

This verse says observe, or do the law (Yahweh’s word) only after you have meditated on it and spoken it. Consistent DOING is always preceded by consistent THINKING, and consistent SPEAKING. Thinking the word, Speaking the word, and Doing the word leads to being prosperous and having good success.

Over the next few months, I will be sharing with you various lessons that can be done with your children, youth groups, or Sunday school classes. These lessons are apart of the Wisdom Kids Workbook. This book provides over 40 different character building lessons for kids.

Lesson 1

Wisdom Choice: God has wonderful things fro you when you follow Him!

Wisdom Bible Verse: Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with Spirit (Galatians 5:25)

As children of God, we need to use wisdom, or make wise choices, when it comes to who we follow. Just as the disciples followed Jesus, we, too, must follow him. When you follow God, we have made a smart, or wise, choice. By following Him, we will be given the wonderful things He has for us. God wants us to be leaders as well to other people. Children need to taught that God desires for them to be leaders to other boys and girls. This is important because many times children will become the person who they have chosen to follow. If they follow bully, then it is likely that they will become a bully as well. However, if you follow a wise person, then they will become wise too. When a child makes good choices about who they follow and the things that they do, then others around them will want to follow them.

The Holy Spirit was sent to be our guide. The Counselor, Holy Spirit, is there to teach us all things and to help us make wise choices (John 14:26).

Wisdom Kids Exercise:

These are two questions that can be given to the children to help them recognize times when they made wise choices and when they have not.

  1. Write about a time this week when you listened to and obeyed the nudge of the Spirit.
  2. Write about a time this week when it was difficult to follow the Lord and make the wise choice.

Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)

“Now faith is the substance of things  hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Faith is believing in what is true, having hope that what has been asked for will be received, and seeking the truth while waiting on Yahweh to deliver on His promise.

During this time of year many individuals as well as churches enter into periods of fasting. Spring signifies a new beginning or rebirth. Before you enter into fasting, you should first go before Yahweh and enter into his presence and seek guidance. Fasting is a time of spiritual cleansing and renewal. I pray the prayer below before I enter into a period of fasting and meditation:

Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of your son Yeshua asking you to prepare me as a chosen vessel to fast and intercede.

Let the spirit of intercession be imparted to me so that your mighty power is shown. Let the Blood of Yeshua be out on the mercy seat of my heart as the Spirit of Yahweh travails through me. I want to touch your heart Father, through prayer and by denying myself in fasting. May no other hunger but a hunger and a thrist for the living Yahweh. Burden me with your desire because I do not know how to pray.

Birth in me the desire to pray and fast to achieve mighty things in you. Help me to deny myself and fast. Let my motive to fast and pray be sincere in your sight.

Remove all the works of the flesh, carnal desires, and selfish thoughts from me so that I may be empty before You. Mold and Melt me and break the hardness of my heart so that i can approach you with tears of humility.

Have mercy on me, a sinner. Forgive my every sin and presumption and make me an instrument of righteousness for the sake of Your dear son and my savior Yeshua.

I wanted to share a quick reminder with you today. As you go out into the world sharing the gospel and your love for the Father, stay prayed up against the work of the enemy. A idle hand, a hurt heart, a wandering mind, a lost soul, and a wavering spirit are vulnerable to Lucifer’s workshop. If you find yourself in anyone of this situations, then call on the Father and seek comfort in His guidance and grace. For He has sent Holy Spirit to lead and guide us on our journey.

Be Blessed!!! Happy Holidays!!
